We are really excited to have two new orchid vendors joining us this year:  Mt. Prospect Orchids and Silva Orchids.

First, Mt. Prospect Orchids is owned and managed by Helen Hersh, and is based in New Jersey.  Here is a link to her website:  http://www.mountprospectorchids.com/.  Mt Prospect Orchids offers a wide variety of orchids, but specializes in Bulbophyllums and Paphiopedilums, particularly Parvi Paphs.  Helen’s website offers loads of tempting orchids. If you see something that you are particularly interested in, please contact Helen Hersh ASAP; there is a chance that she could bring a plant or two to the NCOS Show on a selective basis.

Here are some lovely Parvi Paphs in bloom.  The photo is from Botany Boy’s website (http://botanyboy.org/paphiopedilum-hybrids-complex-p-malipoense-hybrids/).

Second, Silva Orchids is based in Neptune, New Jersey.  This is a family-owned and managed business.  Here is a link to the website:  https://www.silvaorchids.com/.  The company was started by August Silva in 1957.  These days, the business is managed by August’s two grown sons, Anthony and Joseph.  They grow and bloom all of the plants that they sell in their own greenhouse!

We are looking forward to meeting Helen Hersh and Anthony and Joseph Silva this coming weekend at the NCOS Show at Homestead Gardens in Davidsonville MD (Feb 15-17)!
