Throughout its 85-year history the AOS, in keeping with its vision and mission, has strived to bring its members timely and state-of-the-art orchid information, support basic and applied research in orchids, and monitor and support conservation effort both here in North America as well as throughout the World.

The American Orchid Society will provide leadership in orchids.

AOS MISSION STATEMENT

The American Orchid Society's mission is to promote and support the passion for orchids through education, conservation, and research.

AOS GOALS

AOS AIM

The Aims of the American Orchid Society are, generally stated, to extend the knowledge, production, use, perpetuation and appreciation of orchids of any kind and in any manner. AFFILIATED SOCIETIES

The American Orchid Society counts Community as a core value along with Education, Conservation and Research. AOS Affiliated Orchid Societies are a large part of that community. A local orchid society, along with AOS membership, is your best introduction to the fascinating world of orchids. At a local orchid society you will learn about growing orchids under your conditions and discover which orchids do well in your area. The National Capital Orchid Society is an AOS Affiliated Society and is a major supported of the AOS National Capital Judging Center.
